Self Portrait, Oscar Sanchez Mendoza, oil on canvas, 31" x 36" I enjoy being enmeshed in the creative process as much as possible. For me, the practice of yoga facilitates this experience. As a teacher I strive to create a spacious, calm, safe yet challenging environment for students to explore the postures. My classes combine concise explanations, supportive hands-on adjustments, an energizing flow and deep holds. Discovering yoga during one of life’s “rough patches” I found it to be a potent catalyst for my personal healing.
I have completed Level I & II teacher trainings with Baron Baptiste. In Seattle I studied extensively with master Baptiste instructor Lisa Black. I also completed a 200 hour certification program with 8 Limbs Yoga Centers in Seattle. In addition to Baron Baptiste I credit Ana Forrest and Shiva Rea, among others, with influencing my practice and teaching. After spending 16 years as a Registered Nurse I now teach yoga full-time.
